Children at Honey Bees are encouraged to enjoy a balanced routine of free choice and structured activities, which are specifically designed to support their physical, personal, social, emotional and educational development (PSED).
All sessions are planned thoughtfully with the individual needs and interests of the children in mind and according to the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
This is an example of a typical day and is a guide only as routines are flexible to allow for focused activities and experiences, individual children’s interest and developmental needs as well as spontaneous play. See below.

Our nappy times are at 10am, 12pm, 2.30pm and 4pm (and whenever necessary!)
Food is served at 10am, 11.45am and 2.30pm with high tea at 4.30pm. Their water cups are filled throughout the day and encouraged to have fruit from the fruit bowl.
07.00 - 09.00 Children are welcomed by staff and friends and settle in with free play (Free play - children choose from a variety of toys; this helps to encourage personal and social, physical and intellectual development)
09.00 - 09.15 Session begins with circle time
09.15 - 10.00 Fun-filled activities in each area of learning including: arts & crafts, role-play, science & discovery, language & literacy, maths, cooking, games and toys – indoors and outdoors
10.00 - 10.45 The children enjoy themed stories and rhymes in a group and have their morning snack
10.45 - 11.30 Everyone joins in with fun music, drama and dance or focused group activities.
11.45 - 13.00 Prepare for lunch, set the table, wash hands and sit together
Quiet/sleep time for some, others will play with toys such as construction sets (including bricks, Duplo®, Magnetto), encourages children to develop hand-to-eye co-ordination).
13.00 We say goodbye to the morning children
13.15 - 14.30 Afternoon session with more circle time then Sensory play - water or sand play, pasta, jelly, etc.
Children have the opportunity to explore the world around them and experience new sensations using all their senses or physical play outdoors where we climb, balance, ride, make obstacle courses, enjoy ball games and the parachute.
14.30 – 15.00 Relax with afternoon snacks and drinks and reading time
15.00 – 15.45 We dance sing and make music together
15.45 - 16.30 More fun activities
16.30 – 18.00 Home time for some, the rest play outside and inside and then enjoy tea and relax with books, games and activities until parents arrive.
